Alongside homework, please take time to practise times tables that are sent home. The children will be having a times tables test, as well as their spelling test, each Friday. If homework is not returned by Friday, it will be completed during Golden Time, that afternoon.
In year 1, phonics and reading are vital tools for children's learning. We have daily phonics sessions and aim to read with the children as much as we can. We appreciate your support at home by reading with your child frequently (at least 3 times a week). Please record any reading, in the reading record, whether it be the reading books provided, a bed time story or a magazine. Knowing about the other reading you do with your child, helps us better understand your child's interests.
