Spring Term

Spring 2022


All lessons will build on the children's individual speech and language targets and develop their receptive and expressive language skills. 


Monday and Tuesday: 

Our topic this term are: Dinosaurs, pirates and seaside adventures.

The children will focus on the national curriculum objectives with key speech and language targets built into their lessons. The children will complete regular speech and language interventions.

Science: The children will be looking at living things and their habitats in our science lessons, with links to dinosaurs. 

We will also be looking at materials. 

History: We will be looking at dinosaurs and their extinctions.  

Design and Technology (textiles): We will be following instructions to design, make and evaluate our dinosaur puppets.


Thursday and Friday: 

Our topics this term are: Minibeasts, dinosaurs, pirates and seaside adventures. Play will be  incorporated into the day to help the children learn through play with continuous provision planned linked to our topics.

Learning will be built around the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and the National Curriculum depending on the child's age group. 


Speech and language:

All speech and language interventions are planned to meet the children's individual targets. We also build in group sessions to help develop turn taking, listening and attention, sharing and social skills. The speech and language targets that we will be focusing on this term are: learning Makaton signs, developing listening and attention skills, sound production, questioning, syllable clapping, categories, sequencing and pronouns.

Spring A 

This term we will be focusing on a variety of dinosaur fiction books. English/Literacy lesson will link to the following stories:

'Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs'

'Tom and the Island of Dinosaurs'

'Dinosaurs Galore'
