The class teacher is Miss Daniels who is supported by Mrs Myers, our teaching assistant.
The children have had a lovely start to the year and we are so glad that we are all back together again. We have made lots of new friends and we are enjoying getting to know all of our new children and catch up with some familiar faces.
I know we are going to have a lovely year and we cannot wait to watch all of the children learn and grow.
Our topic for this half term is 'All About Me'. We will begin to learn about each other, our likes and dislikes and talk about our families. We will discuss how we grow, what we need to stay healthy and how we are all unique!
We will look at basic shapes and explore the environment around us to find them. We will also be doing lots of counting and working on our number recognition.
Our main focus text for this topic is Elmer by David McKee
The children will be learning through fun and play based activities. These activities fall into 7 areas of learning for the Early Years Foundation Stage. These are;
Personal, Emotional and Social Development
Communication and Language
Understanding the World
(Blue indicates the Prime Areas. Red indicates the Specific Areas of learning.)
The children will be given a piece of fruit and milk or water during snack time and this comes at no cost.
P.E is on a Friday for both Nursery 1 and Nursery 2. Please ensure that your child has a P.E kit in school (white top, blue shorts and pumps will be needed weekly).
Please make sure that all of your child's clothing is clearly labelled (including their coats).
In Nursery we play outside daily and in all weather, so we ask that you provide your child with the appropriate outdoor clothing and suitable footwear.
Please feel free to come and speak with any of us in Nursery about anything you need. And please do keep us up to date with your child's interests and hobbies, so that we can frame our teaching around what they enjoy. We are thoroughly enjoying working with you and your child for this year!
