Class 18

All About Our Class

By the children in Class 18

We are an amazing class with friendly children. We have English and maths lessons. Sometimes we get to paint. Every Friday we have Maths of the Day, it is fun! We don’t do any writing and we play maths games and practice our mental maths. On Thursday we have Circle Time. We like Circle Time because we get to talk and share all our good and bad news. We love our school dinners! We especially love Fridays. Fridays are the best because we love the tasty fish, pizza and chips! We don’t have pizza and fish together. We have games in our class and we practice taking turns, playing nicely and sharing. We love to play Snakes and Ladders or build things with Lego. We make things in our class. While Year 4 went to Beeston, we made shields, castles, targets, bows and arrows. Class 18 love to read. We have a Space/Dinosaur Library. We all love to read Where’s Wally or You Choose. However, Miss McGuffie keeps telling us to choose a book with words so we read Shark in the Park, Don’t Open the Box, Willy the Wizard and lots more. If we are feeling sad or little angry, we have a little quiet room. Our quiet room is calm and peaceful. Sometimes we go in the room to relax and read our favourite book.

We have been writing our own poetry about birds. We hope you like our class poem.

If I were a bird

If I were a bird, I would flap my wings to my next on a high hill

If I were a bird, I would swoop over London and steal people’s chips

If I were a bird, I would swoop over high school

If I were a bird, I would glide across the sea

If I were a bird, I would fly to the North Pole and swoop down to see Santa Claus

If I were a bird, I would flap over houses

If I were a bird, I would glide down to find food

If I were a bird, I would swoop through the long trees

If I were a bird, I would fly to the Atlantic Sea

If I were a bird, I would flap my mighty wings at other birds

Home Learning Ideas

While you are learning at home, you have lots of work that can keep you busy. Your home learning packs included plenty of maths, reading and writing tasks to complete.

If you scroll to the bottom of this page, you will find the links to your favourite websites. You should have all your log in and password details but please let me know if you can't log in and I will reset your accounts.

Maths – If you don't have maths workbooks at home, you can play on TT Rock Stars or Active Learn Maths.  You can also scroll down to find fun maths songs.

Writing- You can log into Purple Mash and choose writing tasks based on topics that you find fun. You can find writing tasks about lots of different topics such as pets, Vikings, superheroes, space and much more! If you don't have the internet, you can use your writing book to create your own stories, write poems or ask your family questions and write a fact page about them.

Reading You should read every day. Discuss what you have read, what characters are thinking/feeling and what might happen next.  You can read books in your Bug Club section of Active Learn. I will check your account every Monday to make sure you have books to read.

Spellings – You can practice reading and spelling the first 100 high frequency words.
