New Curriculum for Art and Design 2014

Welcome to our Art & Design page.

At Oakfield, we believe that Art is an essential part of the broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum. Art and design is a means by which we can develop our children’s creativity and imagination. By developing children’s creativity we hope to inspire and motivate them, and

we want to ensure they receive their full entitlement to high quality arts and design.

We are  very proud to announce that in February 2018, Oakfield were awarded the Silver Artsmark. Our Statement of Commitment was assessed by the Arts Council who stated;

"The Panel enjoyed reading about your Artsmark journey and the work you have undertaken to develop your curriculum and ensure broad access to the arts for your children."

In addition,  "As a Silver Artsmark school Arts Council England celebrates your commitment to arts and cultural education and the opportunities emerging across your provision. Your children and young people are offered equal opportunity to participate in a diverse range of arts and cultural experiences and you recognise the importance of development opportunities for your staff in these areas. You understand the value of working with arts and cultural organisations and are developing partnerships to enhance your provision. Your children and young people have an opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of arts and culture and you are working to build on the foundations of your provision."

Oakfield recently opened its doors to a whole school  Art exhibition. Every child from Nursery to Year 6 participated in producing artwork on canvas to exhibit, on a chosen theme .  The journey began with an afternoon of art for our More Able, Gifted and Talented artists. The children experienced a lovely afternoon producing a piece of artwork on canvas using a variety of media e.g. water-colours, pastels, collage. Take a look at their brilliant work.

Their artwork was entered into an online art  competition. Although we didn't win a prize, several pieces were shortlisted. Well done children!

It is also now on display in Widnes Library.

The children also generated the theme choices  for the whole school art exhibition.

 In December 2015, Year 3 had  a wonderful experience working with a local artist Andy Leigh,  during their overnight stay at Tattenhall Centre. They produced some lovely artwork!
