ECO COUNCIL 2015 - 2016
Oakfield Community Primary School is a member of the Eco-Schools programme.
Each year the children are given the opportunity to express their views and opinions on the importance of being an Eco school and becoming a councillor. A new council is then selected with representatives from Year 2 to Year 6
Pupils are the driving force behind Eco-Schools – they form and lead an Eco-Council and help to carry out an audit to assess the environmental performance of the school. In conjunction with the rest of the school and the wider community, it’s the pupils that decide the environmental themes they want to address and how they’re going to do it.
Our new Councillors would like to thank the Councillors of 2014-2015 for all their hard work and maintenance of the soft fruit orchard, purchased from the successful bid by the 2012-2013 council. We will continue to make sure the orchard is well looked after and expanded by the school. We will also continue to raise funds to continue to be 'Friends of the red squirrel' and intend to carry on with their good work by continuing to sponsor an international endangered animal. Thank you to the retiring council for sponsoring the penguins at Chester Zoo. Furthermore, we will continue to strive to focus on reducing the impact on the environment by holding 'Switch off ' events, paper free challenge days and other activities and competitions.
Our notice board in school, records and provides further information of events.
Please remember that the Eco council is there for all children in the school, and that your class councillor will be happy to listen to, and take notice of anything you say that will make our school, our home and our world, an even better place to be part of.
